Hi All,

I downloaded the PTPower install files from this site and tried to install it on my local system. I have also installed the ADOMD.NET files prior to running the PTPower install. Even though the setup starts it gives me the below error soon after the start. I have tried this multiple times with no success. Any help on this is much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Priyanka

Hello - sorry to hear this. Did you first download the install package to your machine (and then run the install), or did you try to run it from the Browser?

It seems people have more luck by first downloading PTPower.exe to their local hard drive (and then running it). You should be able to get a successful install after (at most) 2 tries...

Hello - a few of us in my office have tried to install PTPower without any success. We have tried more than twice including: running the install from a copy on my local machine and installing ADOMD.NET prior to installing PTPower. After every install, I get the message: The latest version of this customization is already installed. In my control panel, Add or Remove programs: PTPower version 1.0.0.13 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services ADOMD.NET 10.0.1600.60

When I open Excel 2007 & look at Excel Options, PTPower is in the list of Inactive Application Add-ins. I attempted to activate it by clicking on the checkbox to "Load at Startup". The next time I open Excel, PTPower is back in the Inactive Application Add-ins. What could be missing from or interfering with a successful install? Do we need SqlServer Data Mining Add-ins for 2008 (Excel & COM Add-ins) as Active?

Please advise & feel free to contact me directly for further assistance.
Kind regards,
Arlene

Hello - during install, PTPower checks for the existence of (and may try to download) the VSTO runtime (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=54EB3A5A-0E52-40F9-A2D1-EECD7A092DCB&displaylang=en). You can verify is this is installed via Control Panel (it is called Visual Studio Tools for the Office System 3.0 Runtime). If this runtime is not installed, you can download and install it manually.

To confirm the steps you are now trying, you should be in Excel 2007 - you go to Options, and then to the Add-Ins Tab. On the Manage drop-down box, you choose COM Add-Ins and then click the Go push-button. You see and check PTPower in the listbox.

Is this what you are doing?

Hello - to answer your last question, yes. I see PTPower in the listbox, click the box and hit OK. I can tell Excel is trying to activate PTPower because it takes a moment to bring me back to the worksheet. So then I create a pivot table from scratch. After that, when I go to Options (in the ribbon area), I do not see PTPower. When I go back to the Add-in's tab (via Options) & Manage drop-down box to view the listbox, the Load Behavior comment is: Not loaded. A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in.

Also, I do have Visual Studio Tools for the Office System 3.0 Runtime installed because I see it in the Control Panel. I would appreciate any other advice to get this utility working in Excel 2007.

Kind regards,
Arlene

Hello - I am not sure what is causing this behavior. I spent some time looking at this troubleshooting site - http://blogs.msdn.com/vs...-in-load-failures.aspx. There are a few "Troubleshooting Steps" that you can try (some I would have to do with the code itself). I will continue to research.

Hello - I haven't come across any new information to aid in troubleshooting. Please take a look at the link I provided below if you haven't already. If you want, please send me an email at Admin@SQLServerPower.com and I can send you an alternative setup file.
