Download Notes: |
PTPower uses Microsoft ADOMD.NET, which is part of the SQL Server 2008 feature pack.
ADOMD.NET can be downloaded from the Microsoft Web Site - (SQLSERVER2008_ASADOMD10.msi).
During install, PTPower may need to download/install a Microsoft Add-In run-time
file. If this happens, the install may not complete. Simply run the
install a 2nd time to workaround this issue. |

Screen Shots:
PTPower is exposed as an Excel 2007 Add-In - within the "PivotTable Tools" Ribbon.
The first button ("Show MDX") pops up a new window with the color-formatted MDX
for a given pivot table.
The 2nd buttton ("Calculations") brings up the Calculated Member Editor window;
it is similar in functionality to the Calculated Member editor used in the Business
Intelligence Development Studio. Note - Metadata (Measures and Dimensions)
along with Functions/Templates may be dragged and dropped onto the MDX rich-text
box editor.

Once created, calculated members are available to be used in the pivot table - and
are saved as part of the Excel workbook. This means other Excel users can
make use of these calculated members - even if they do not have PTPower installed
(the workbook can also be saved to Excel Services).
